Art Teachers Are...

Art Teachers Are... A video I made at the Wexner Center for the Arts during July 8-10.  I worked with the Media Arts Instructors Corey Aumiller and Dan Gerdeman.  We had a blast, as  we were challeneged, encouraged and inspired.  Thanks Corey and Dan and the lovely ladies that took the class with me.  Also, to Tracie McCambridge and her team at the Wex.

This was a terrific address.  A nod to all the weird kids and adults that always seem to land on their feet and arrive at every occassion leaving those around them with more than they had when they walked in the door.

OP ART IS GROOVY

Describe what you hope to achieve by taking this CEU course. THE ANSWER

I hope to create a blog that is beautiful and useful in my teaching. I know that my students were borne into one of the riches visual landscape of our time and despite my limited experience I know that I need to increase my skill set and offer more technology based learning opportunities.  I think that the blog would allow my students to do deeper thinking and produce more thoughtful work given the fact that they will be posting to a site that their peers and others can see and comment to.

Explain how you currently fuse subject matter with technology in the classroom. THE ANSWER.

I currently fuse art with technology in a limited manner in my classroom. We received two laptops last school year and
one is often not working and the other is fine.  The students do research and image searches on the laptop and we occasionally do art based field trips to art museums and sites that offer visual art art making activities. We take digital photos as source material for original work.

Describe your comfort level with technology. The Answer.

My comfort level with technology is like the beginning of a dating relationship.  You know the first date is okay and you've collected enough data from the first meeting that leads you to believe that it will be safe to go forward...ANOTHER DATE!  You take on the next experience, be it technology or the date with that bolster of self confidence and trepidation--What a nice mix of Acid in the belly, Angry disposition that may or may not outweigh your feelings of low confidence and Anxiety. However, by the third date or technology practice session you are a lot more comfortable, you are leaning forward, smiling and can't wait to use the technology again.

My 1st post in workshop

Doing pretty well so far, no blood or crying.
